Returning Mickey Stern was the first 35mm feature comedy ever to be shot in Fire Island, New York. The Incorporated Village of Ocean Beach passed bylaws allowing movie production to take place there.

The island is a place of magic and romance. Many romantic relationships popped up among the crew and cast during principal photography, and a couple endure to this day. Two crew members, who had never met before principal photography, eloped soon after production. Was it the magic of Fire Island? Hmmm…
